Hello from the “Core Four”! 👋 These are the four minds pulling all the levers on the monster machine that is Cakewalk Events.
In 2014, Amy launched Cakewalk Events and worked side by side with The Vow Exchange to build a new kind of event and wedding planning business in KC. That same year, she met Kristen who quickly became her business bestie. Over the years Cakewalk grew and took the reins at both of The Vow Exchange venues! Amy and Kristen had a vision of how Cakewalk could grow beyond weddings and touch even more folks in KC and we knew we needed to expand our team!
Fast forward to 2019, Amy’s daughter, Sophie, recruited her second grade teacher, Megan, to join our team. One year later, Krista was brought into our lives and was truly the missing puzzle piece.
Finding our Cakewalk girl gang has been such a source of joy for us. Today, you might meet Krista if you come into one of our spaces for a tour. Or run into Megan at our monthly first Friday pop-up shop. If you're a thrift store shopper, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with Amy and Kristen looking for new treasures for our venues. Or you’ll find all four of us at one of our favorite restaurants, Our House on 39th Street, for what is supposed to be a “Core Four Forum” business meeting, which has a good chance of turning into the four of us just catching up over drinks.
It's been a dream of ours, working with others who are not only driven for success, but who can bring joy, passion, and fun to this career, and we've found that in each other. It's a journey and we are nowhere near done with finding out what all we can do with our business.
